Nov 29 2016 Balashi ruins. It was 1824 when gold was first found on Aruba. The gold mill of Bushiribana is built in 1874. And 25 years later they built the Balashi gold mill. This ruins are located on a hill at the Frenchmens pass. There were probably steam engines grind mills water tanks and fern aces just like the one in Bushiribana.
In 1872 the Aruba Island Gold Mining Company was given the exclusive right to mine the islands gold and it built a smelter in Bushiribana to process the ore using wind power for its mill. A second smelter was built in Balashi in 1899 that was more modern and used steam power.
